SK Telecom is in high spirits. While the release of iPhone 4 has been delayed in Korea, SK Telecom has been holding a dominant position. During the last month, SK Telecom took about 40,000 subscribers away from KT. SK Telecom's offensive movement looks fierce and prepared for the second half of the year with the Galaxy S leading the way.
Meanwhile, KT received a serious blow from these events. In July, KT lost 40,000 subscribers to SK Telecom and 10,000 to subscribers to LG U+. Finally iPhone 4 is about to show up in the market, but it is not sure how successful the iPhone 4 since the Galaxy S has already dominated the smartphone market. Also, it has been reported that the iPhone 4 has technical issues such as their antenna problem. If KT fails to successfully promote the iPhone 4, it could be a serious issue since they will not have a back-up plan.
The situation isn't looking good for LG U+, either. It seems like they have a poor line up of smartphones. Analysts assume that they would be the third wheel in the phone market while Galaxy S and iPhone 4 fight for the market share.
Even though LG U+ will anticipate the release of the Galaxy U, it still doesn't look hopeful.
