LG Electronics' strategic Smartphone called "LG Wing" will be released in South Korea and the U.S. markets in the second half of this year.

On Oct. 4, LG Electronics will launch the LG Wing in South Korea through channels of three mobile carriers and LG Electronics starting Oct. 6. It will also be released in the U.S. market through Verizon on October 15.

The LG Wing, a smartphone with a horizontal screen, is the first release of the "Explorer Project" that LG Electronics is pushing to innovate its smartphone business, which has been sluggish.

Earlier, LG Electronics is pushing for "Explorer Project Strategy", weighing on the evolution of usability in order to preemptively discover areas with high growth potential in the smartphone sector.

The price of LG Wing is the lowest among the "Dual-screen Smartphones" that have been released in South Korea. This includes products that support expandable displays for multitasking such as dual screens and foldable displays.

The "LG Wing" comes with two OLED displays, each measuring 6.8 and 3.9, respectively. Display accounts for a large portion of Smartphone parts' prices. Considering this, LG Electronics' aggressive forwarding strategy is to remove unnecessary price bubbles so that more customers can experience the product.

The LG Wing adds new user experience by applying "Bar type mode" that is familiar to users and "Swivel Mode" that is new to users.

Customers can use it like a normal smartphone, but if necessary, turn the main screen clockwise to use it with a second screen that was hidden. In the swivel mode of the LG wing, both screens can be used as one application, or two applications can be used.

Using the swivel mode of the LG Wing, users can control video such as playing and fast-forwarding on the second screen while watching video on the main screen when using streaming applications such as YouTube.

In particular, Naver Whale Browser, a platform partner of the "Explorer Project," supports Picture In Picture (PIP). Using this function, you can watch YouTube videos on the main screen, watch other content lists on the second screen, or write comments.

It is also possible to use two applications in the swivel mode of the LG wing. Users can chat with friends on the second screen or search while watching a screen video on the main screen.

You can also use navigation by turning the main screen vertically to select music on the second screen, or check the phone receiver.

To maximize the advantages of the form factor that only LG Wing has, LG Electronics has applied the world's first "Gimbal motion camera" function.

The Gimbal is a professional device that enables stable and smooth video shooting by making movement in the opposite direction of the camera when filming with a smartphone or camera.
