On September 3rd, President Rafael Correa Delgado of the Republic of Ecuador is scheduled to make an official visit to Korea September 8-10 at the invitation of the President.
The President and President Correa will hold a summit in the afternoon of September 8 to discuss ways to substantially enhance bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including political affairs, trade and investment, development collaboration, energy, resources, infrastructure, IT and the environment. Importantly, the Korean President is expected to call upon his Ecuadorian counterpart to provide support for Korean businesses to participate in major energy and infrastructure construction projects in Ecuador.
During the visit, the Ecuadorian President will attend a luncheon hosted by the heads of four major economic associations and will hold an investment exposition. He will also have a chance to tour Korea's state-of-the-art industrial facilities at SK Petrochemical Complex and Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan. In addition, he will visit the Korea Development Institute and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology.
President Correa's visit this time, the first by an Ecuadorian president since President Novoa came to Korea in 2002, is expected to further strengthen substantive collaborative ties between the two nations.
