LG CNS announced on April 12 that it will enter the Japanese education market with AI English learning service 'AI Tutor'. AI Tutor is an AI-based smartphone app that is used by about 600,000 users in Korea.
About 150 companies, including LG affiliates and large companies, are using it as English education programs for executives and employees.
Based on its own AI conversation algorithm and voice recognition technology, LG CNS is planning to launch a full-scale attack on overseas markets including Japan.
LG CNS joined hands with AEON, a local company in Japan, and released the Japanese version of AI tutor called 'AI Speak Tutor'. AEON, a subsidiary of the KDDI Group, is a well-known Japanese language company that runs some 250 language institutes in Japan.
KDDI Group is Japan's second-largest telecommunications company. AEON will pre-release 'AI Speak Tutor' for existing students. Starting next month, ordinary people can download 'AI Speak Tutor' from their smartphone application store and use it.
LG CNS has implemented localization strategies to target Japanese markets. It did not simply translate existing AI tutor learning contents into Japanese, but produced learning contents to reflect various characteristics of Japan.
LG CNS applied its own AI technology to 'AI Speech Tutor'. The 'AI Speech Tutor' recognizes the user's answers and analyzes the contents to evaluate the accuracy and fluency of the answers according to the context.
"We are also testing AI tutors in Thai and Vietnamese, starting with the launch of Japanese version AI tutor," said Kim Chang-eun, managing director of LG CNS Digital Marketing & New Business. "We are planning to expand our overseas market to apply Korean AI technology to global English education."
