Netmarble F&C, a development subsidiary of Netmarble, announced on April 8 that it will sign a partnership with North American webtoon and web novel platform company Tapas Media and launch a strategic mobile MMOG "Iron Throne" IP-based web novel.
"Iron Throne" is a next-generation strategic mobile MMOG developed by Netmarble F&C and was released in the global market in 2018.
Netmarble F&C plans to release its web novel "Firstborn: Divided Loyalties" based on "Iron Throne: Firstborn" on April 14.
Through this partnership, the company plans to strengthen its global IP competitiveness with Tapas Media, which is serving Web novel and webtoon platform "Tapas" in global markets such as the U.S.
Tapas is the first webtoon platform in North America and has more than 60,000 artists, more than 1.4 million works, and 80 original IPs as of May last year.
In particular, it has gained a lot of popularity, with more than 3 million monthly users (MAU) and more than 6.7 billion cumulative views.
In addition to "Firstborn," Netmarble and Tapas Media will unveil various contents based on the Netmarble game IP in the future.
"The goal of Netmarble and Netmarble F&C is to provide joy to users with various contents beyond games," said Nam Joo-hyun, head of Netmarble's F&C IP Development Division. "This web novel release is part of a number of meaningful projects with Tapas Media. We will continue to make efforts to strengthen our own IPs.”
