Mirae Asset Chairman Park Hyun-joo will donate the entire dividend that he received from Mirae Asset Management in 2020. Chairman Park has been donating dividends from Mirae Asset since 2010.
Dividends he donated this year amounted to 1.6 billion won, and donations for 11 years totaled 26.6 billion won. Donations will be used for scholarship and social welfare projects through the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation.
Mirae Asset's overseas exchange scholarship program is the largest exchange student scholarship project in Korea, which selects 700 talented students every year from overseas exchange students to support tuition and stay expenses so that Korean talent can have knowledge and cultural experience in the world. Starting with the first selection in 2007, it sent 5,817 students to 50 countries.
In addition to 3,558 scholarship students in Korea, more than 320,000 people are participating in various domestic and foreign educational programs and social welfare programs, including global cultural experience programs such as global leaders' long journey, economic classes with families.
In 2020, it was difficult to proceed with talent fostering programs such as overseas scholarship projects and global exploration due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, he donated to the National Disaster Relief Association to support the purchase of medical supplies, protective clothing, and masks to overcome COVID- 19. It also made donations to help victims of the typhoon.
