Hyundai Engineering announced on May 25 that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the "Poland PKN Olefins Expansion Project" EPC project.
Hyundai Engineering is the only South Korean construction company to stand out in the European petrochemical plant market, continuing to win orders in the EU market after winning orders for Polish polymer polyce PDH and PP plants worth 1 billion euros in 2019.
The PKN Olefins expansion project is located in Plock, central Mazovia, about 120 km northwest of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. It is a large petrochemical project that decomposes naphtha produced in the petrochemical complex in Plock and produces 740,000 tons of ethylene, called "rice in the petrochemical industry," annually.
Hyundai Engineering formed a consortium with Spain's TR and participated in this project as a consortium leader. A consortium composed of Hyundai Engineering and TR and leading European construction companies were selected as dual feed contractors and carried out basic designs.
Since then, Hyundai Engineering has been selected as the preferred bidder after beating the competition consortium in recognition of its basic design and business performance capabilities from the ordering company after competing for EPC bidding.
Hyundai Engineering announced that it has once again won a huge project in Europe by mobilizing basic design technology and experience in carrying out various projects based on its long partnership with KBR.
