Samsung Engineering announced on May 28 that it signed a "Memorandom of Understanding (MOU)" with PTC Korea, a Korean branch of PTC, a global digital solution company, to develop new businesses using AR and IoT technologies.

Officials from both companies including Samsung Engineering Solutions Business Director Moon Deok-kyu and PTC Korea Domestic Sales Director Kim Sang-gun attended the signing ceremony, which was held at the Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Sangil-dong, Seoul, Korea.

This business agreement was promoted to apply and commercialize digital technologies to plant sites based on expertise and know-how of both companies in plant construction and operation, digital innovation and solutions.

Through this business agreement, the two companies will cooperate in promoting joint commercialization of plant construction and operation solutions based on digital technology by applying PTC Korea's digital technology for Samsung Engineering's domestic and foreign plants.

PTC, a global AR and IoT platform company, was also selected as the "Best AR and IoT Leader of the Year" announced by Gartner.

Samsung Engineering expects to improve project quality and productivity by applying and implementing PTC's AR technology to plant construction sites. Both companies have already started collaboration and are about to open AR-based Smart Field Management System in July.

Samsung Engineering is also paying attention to the application of digital technologies in the green infrastructure sector.

Green infrastructure business is a project that constructs and operates eco-friendly facilities such as water treatment and air pollution prevention facilities. The project generates sustainable and stable profits through post-plant construction operations. Based on previous experiences, the company is seeking to expand its global market.

"This agreement is part of the digital innovation and innovation solution commercialization that the company is continuously pushing for," said an official of Samsung Engineering. "The company will produce tangible results through close cooperation with PTC."
