Under the slogan of It

Under the slogan "IT is my life", the Korea Electronics Show 2010 (KES 2010) will be held from October 12th through 15th at KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Center) in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province. KES 2010's opening ceremony will be attended by over 500 dignitaries, including Minister of Knowledge and Economy Kyong-hwan Choi, Governor of Gyeonggi Province Moon-soo Kim, Chairman of Korea Electronics Association (KEA) Jong-yong Yoon, Chairman of Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra) Hwan-Ik Cho, Chairman of Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) Oh-Hyun Kwon and Chairman of Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) Young-Soo Kwon.

At KES 2010, semiconductors and displays will not be exhibited in a segregated manner: complete product portfolios, ranging from parts to finished goods, will be shown to allow buyers to see both upstream and downstream supply lines at the event. KINTEX's multi-functional indoor exhibition space of 53,541 ㎡ will be filled with exhibition pavilions, which display next-generation solutions such as 3D, wearable computing, green IT, robot IT, multimedia, digital kits and e-health, not to mention world-class products like mobile phones, semiconductors and displays. KES2010 plans to offer CEOs opportunities for getting insight into future technologies and investment plans.

Korea's 51-year-old electronics industry, which started with manufacturing cassette players and color TV, cannot be described without mentioning the Korea Electronics Show. Since the first KES was held at Deoksugung Palace in 1969, KES has played a pivotal role in promoting Korea's electronics industry to to its position as the World's No. 4 position. In particular, the Korea Electronics Show was given a makeover in 2008, transforming it into an exhibition that covers the entire value chain of the electronics industry (e.g. R&D, design, production and distribution). The Korea Electronics Show went beyond simply displaying products to  introduce design, R&D, content and distribution. In addition, its themed pavilions (green IT, 3D, U-health, digital broadcasting equipment, next-generation computing and home appliances) and sectoral pavilions (ICT, multimedia and car electronics) have been well received.

Furthermore, a variety of themed pavilions will be established under the concept of "Show in Show' this time. For instance, the Loving Consumer Electronics Pavilion will put on view a wide range of, kitchenware, small home appliances and products related to beauty and health in order to reflect changing lifestyles, brought on by changes in housing and diet.  The Loving Consumer Electronics Pavilion is anticipated to catch the eye of newlyweds and those who have an interest in home appliances.

Also, KES 2010 will provide a blueprint for the electronics industry's future. The Korean government and various research institutes will jointly hold Smart Korea 2010 to address development strategies for IT and convergence; and the evolution of smart TV evolution and its market prospects. What's more, there is a line-up of programs that are designed to spice up KES 2010: meetings of international app developers will be held and Korean celebrities will make appearances at KES 2010 to have hands-on experiences with state-of-the-art products.

The competitive edge of KES 2010 is that its schedule is skillfully calendared in tandem with other major Asian electronics exhibitions, which are scheduled to be held in October, in order to attract more foreign buyers. Starting off the circuit, CEATEC opens on October 13th in Japan, followed by TAITRONICS (slated for October 11th in Taiwan) and the Electronics Fair (slated for October 13th in Hong Kong). By smoothly channeling visitors from the electronics exhibitions into Korea, KES 2010 will see a higher foreign buyer turnout than ever before.

Additionally, KES 2010 is to be held along with the i-SEDEX (International Semiconductor Exhibition) and  the IMID (International Meeting on Information Display), which will create synergetic effects such as cost reductions for participating electronics companies and enticing more foreign buyers to take full advantage of their time in Korea. Moreover, a slew of programs, such as trade consultation services for foreign buyers, seminars on cutting-edge technology and new product presentations, are in the wings to make KES 2010 a high value-added event and live up to the expectations of both participating companies and visitors.

Exhibition and electronics heavyweights from China, India and Russia will be on hand at KES 2010, as well as approximately 1,000 companies, including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Redrover, from 30 nations to include Korea, the US, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and, Singapore who will all participate in the event.

Exhibitions of today offer more than simple displays of new products. Thousands of visitors, both foreign and domestic, witness next-generation products and experience their cutting-edge technologies, thereby envisioning their future product portfolios. This time, the Korea Electronics Show, which has played a part in marking October as a month for making an IT pilgrimage to Asia, is dreaming a bigger dream, as evidenced by its slogan "IT is my life". KES 2010 seems to be on the right track to realizing the dream.
