Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) specializes in a wide range of electronic components and development of IT technology. KETI showcased many innovative technologies and methods which have been developed through their research, such as new materials for electronic components, a 3D touch screen panel, and personalized digital media.
The real 3D touchscreen panel is one of the most recent IT products that have been developed by KETI. A representative from KETI demonstrated a working 3D touch screen panel demo, which was a simple digital throwing game. The real 3D touchscreen technology allows the user to manipulate, not only the direction, but the strength of the throw. Another application of the real 3D touchscreen was the digital keyboard, where the volume of the key played depends on the amount of pressure. Although not yet applied to everyday electronic devices, the application of this panel would allow much more versatility in development of future smart phone and handheld devices.
Another innovation demonstrated at the KETI booth was the customizable digital media center. Although it does not look too different from the typical home theater set up, the user not only has freedom to decide which instruments he or she wants to hear on a track, but also the position of the instrumental set up. By changing the setting on the iPad application, a guitar enthusiast could listen to the guitar track by re-locating it right next to him, while someone who thinks the vocal is too loud may move it further away. This is done through multiple speakers, each playing a specific instrument. If the user wants, they can also remove the vocal track by lowering the volume of the vocal track to zero. However, the music has to be compatible with the system, so no, you can't sing along to your favorite CD just yet.
