KT announced on December 22 that it developed a high-speed quantum cryptography communication with a speed of 20 kbps with its own technology.
Quantum cryptography communication is a next-generation communication technology that only the sender and receiver can decode by transmitting information using photons, the smallest unit of light.
The high-speed quantum cryptography communication technology developed by KT realizes 20kbps, which can supply quantum cryptography to 4,000 cryptographic devices at the same time.
By using the technology and equipment developed by KT, it will be possible to establish a Korean-style national security system necessary for the defense, finance, and public sectors, and to strengthen cooperation in the development of quantum cryptography application services.
The company plans to transfer high-speed quantum cryptography communication technology to Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to take the lead in revitalizing the Korean industrial ecosystem and use it to develop various application services for customers.
"Quantum cryptography communication technology is a key technology for future secure communication, and technology independence is essential due to global technological block," said Lee Jong-sik, head of KT Convergence Technology Institute's InfraDX Research Center. "We plan to continue to develop various services that allow people to safely enjoy cutting-edge ICT life in the non-face-to-face era.”
