KT announced today that it has signed a business agreement with Russia's MEDSI Group to establish a health examination center in Russia.

MEDSI Group is Russia's largest private medical corporation, operating 91 general hospitals and clinics across Russia.

Starting with cooperation with MEDSI, KT plans to speed up its entry into the global medical market based on artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud capabilities.

It was held after an official of SISTEMA, the parent company of MEDSI and Russia's largest publicly traded investment group, visited Korea in October 2021 to experience a Korean-style health checkup and review the business.

Currently, related projects are not active in Russia, as there is no screening system in place to receive screening quickly and accurately.

According to the Health Industry Promotion Agency, as of 2019, 30,000 Russian citizens come to Korea for medical tourism annually.

The two companies, which have been operating a working group for the healthcare business since November 2021, will establish a Korean-style health checkup center in Russia, which lacks a medical system, as a starting point for this agreement to prevent diseases, and provide medical services such as KT's remote reading and medical AI.

The two companies are promoting the establishment of a joint venture to build Korean-style health examination centers in Moscow and Vladivostok within this year. After that, KT seeks to advance into Russia's 10 largest cities and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States, former Russian Federation countries).
