There have been reports that AOL is considering a takeover of Yahoo. Although it is not confirmed yet, there are some reports that AOL is thinking about taking over Yahoo with the help of private equity firms.  In the beginning of the day, Yahoo's stock soared 6 percent and ended the day with a 4.5 percent increase and a 15.93 USD stock price. The reports also state that Silver Lake Partners and Blackstone Group LP are among the private equity firms that are thinking about the takeover of Yahoo.

 

However, there are some difficult situations with AOL. AOL would need help with their financing, as their market capitalization of 2.68 billion USD is only about one-ninth the size of Yahoo's market capitalization of 20.56 billion USD. Financing a deal would be possible, but it would be quite complex.
