Global Climate Change is on the minds of many as it continues to make itself visibly known throughout the world. Seoul's Mayor, Oh Se-Hoon, is taking this issue into his own hands and setting a goal to make our city rank the greenest in the world. After supplying electric cars to the U.S. market, it is Oh's plan to encourage the public to switch over to electric cars and buses. In addition being a huge environmental benefit, there is a speculated economic growth foreseen in the electric vehicle sector.

Oh's strategy to turn this vision into reality starts with establishing 110,000 charging stations by 2020. The first 130 of these stations are scheduled to be completed within the year.  A total of 100 vehicles, 10 buses and 90 other vehicles, will be the leaders of this movement.  It is expected that this green technology will improve the health of our environment and our lives.

Hyundai unveiled its first electric car back in September of this year after investing over 40 billion won to create this new vehicle. Hyundai's Vice Chairman, Lee-Hyun-Soon declared, "Consumers' are interests and demand for eco-friendly cars are rising and securing such advanced technology is critical in becoming an industry leader." Unsurprisingly, this idea has struck a chord with Mayor Oh, who will further help the growth of this new industry in Korea.

Next year a committee will be formed to provide advice on how to successfully implement this goal in Seoul.
