After discovering a high demand for a complex, electronic communication tool in the business community, Microsoft Corp developed the program known as Lync. This program integrates several tools that many businesses use to operate such as instant messaging, presence, audio, video, web conferencing and voice.
Vice President of Lync & Speech Group explains, ""Lync delivers on our vision to unify all of the modes of modern business communication, giving people a more collaborative, 'in person' experience with features like HD video, conference recording, and social features like status updates and activity feeds."
Many large businesses such as Nikon, France Telecom and even Marquette University of the U.S. are on board and currently using this program to increase productivity and reduce costs. After the release date on December 1st, other companies of all sizes could also join this group in conducting and monitoring their businesses through this sophisticated program.
Although this appears to target the worker on-the-go, it is evident that this could also increase telecommuting due to the convenience and efficiency of different forms of communication located on one platform.
