After the debut of the Galaxy S to the United States market, Samsung took a large margin of the Android handset sales. The latest statistics suggest that it grasps 32.1% of the U.S. market which is currently the largest portion any company has. Samsung stole this top position from Motorola.
Although Samsung is wearing the crown, Motorola has announced the future release of a new Android, Olympus, which is scheduled to debut in early 2011. The company also mentioned that it will not be as reliant on the carrier Verizon Wireless like it has done in the past. This action of Motorola intensifies the competition between it and Samsung.
Samsung will reach American shelves with its Nexus S Android 2.3 on December 16, 2010. It operates on the latest Google Chrome OS. A device now filled with promise may battle with Motorola's Olympus in the coming months.
The feature unique to the Nexus S is known as the NFC (near field communication) which allows users to read off any objects that contain its special NFC chip. It is also linked to a payment system to allow for easier purchasing.
The Motorola Olympus, not yet officially seen, is rumored to contain the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor which is a step up from its past processors. The technology battle is on and it is clear that the competition between Samsung and Motorola is becoming stronger.
