GM Daewoo, which was established in 2002, has built 15 million powertrains. This year alone, it has built a record 2.5 million engines and transmissions.
The automaker hosted a celebration at its Bupyeong headquarters today to mark its latest achievement. Attendees included GM Daewoo's President and CEO Mike Arcamone, Vice President of Domestic Vehicle Manufacturing Youngchul Jeon, Managing Director of Powertrain Manufacturing Sanghwa Lee, and Labor Union Chairman Youngho Chu.
"This is not just a new milestone for GM Daewoo, it is also a new milestone for the Korean automotive industry," said Arcamone. "Our success has been largely the result of the hard work and excellence of our employees as well as our focus on continuous improvement. We remain committed to building the best engines and transmissions as part of our overall commitment to becoming the world's highest-quality automotive company."
GM Daewoo currently has an annual powertrain production capacity of 3 million units at its Bupyeong, Changwon, Boryeong and Gunsan plants.
