The Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs announced that the K7 Kia sedan topped the safety tests above twelve other car models including domestic and international brands.
At first glance it appears that the list was dominated by KIA cars. Along with KIA brand cars, a few Hyundai cars ranked high in the results as well. Unsurprisingly, the Hyundai Sonata came in second place by a small 0.1 point difference to the K7.
The ranking is as follows: KIA K7, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Avante, KIA K5, KIA Sportage, and finally the Hyundai SUV Tucson. It was a close battle as the point rating scale was tight.
Just like the normal crash tests, the Ministry evaluated the front, side, and roll-over impacts as well as testing the seat, hardware, and breaks safety. These tests focused on the safety for drivers passengers, and pedestrians.
