Many have heard the heart-warming stories about a dog saving its owner from threats and harm. However, the future is looking a little brighter for the elderly and disabled individuals who have needs beyond this. Alderbaran Robotics collaborated with French research organizations and created a new human-like best friend referred to as 'Romeo'.

The robot is equipped with a health monitoring device which would signal for help if and when the owner is in need of medical attention. In addition, it would take away the frustration that many elderly people encounter with short-term memory loss by tracking commonly lost items. It will also take care of daily tasks such as getting food, taking out the garbage, or any other typical responsibilities of caretakers.

Romeo, expected to be released to university research partners, will undergo a series of testing before it is available to general consumers. However, initially it will be sold at the high price of $327,500 which is much higher than the price of hiring someone for extra help.
