The appearance of kitchens everywhere could change after obtaining the 3D food printer
A group at Cornell University's Computational Synthesis Lab steps up to replace the traditional way of cooking with laser printer produced foods. Printing the perfect 3D picture that is actually good enough to eat! Instead of the colored ink in regular printers, liquid or melted ingredient based concoctions are placed in syringes which feed out to design any food a person desires whether it is a chocolate cake or a hearty steak. Initially, the group set out to invent a machine that could make perfect foods that are customized to each person yet simple enough for anyone to use.

The options in food creating are expected to be limitless with this printer. Dr. Jeffrey Lipton, project leader, explains, ""FabApps would allow you to tweak your foods taste, texture and other properties." Fab Apps was described to be the electronic recipe that the printer follows as it prints what the user inputted. There are no set recipes which would mean that cookers have the freedom to create as they please.

For those that think this will take away the joy of cooking, this team explained that they foresee groups forming online social networks to trade newfound recipes with each other and creating the ultimate perfect foods. Chefs will still be able to create 'art' as they have always had but it will be in another way. Everyone and anyone will be a chef!

The kitchens in homes and restaurants of the future may take on a different look with this device. It may save time but also prove to cut down on the occurrence of food poisoning or other food related illnesses as the ingredients are sure to be safe and unlikely to become cross-contaminated.
