The Ministry of Environment selected 50 persons who are fluent in English and have no reason for being disqualified in working for international organizations in July 2010 and provided them with training program through the Institute of East & West Studies at Yonsei University. For six weeks, trainees have obtained knowledge and experience on diverse environmental regulations and policies. Among those who completed the program, 15 were chosen for an internship at international organizations.
The Ministry of Environment expects the program will contribute to securing experts on international environmental issues and establishing a bridgehead for Korea's excellent manpower to advance into international organizations. The Ministry already sent 14 interns to 12 international organizations in 2009 and plans to concentrate its efforts on training experts on international environmental issues through consistent training program.
