Piezoelectricity is the charge which accumulates in certain solid materials, notably crystals, certain ceramics, and biological matter such as bone, DNA and various proteins in response to applied mechanical strain. So the idea is that you mash one of these crystals or ceramics and it will generate a measurable amount of electricity.

They say it works the other way, as well. Apply electricity to the mass and it will contract in size in equal proportion. It takes a physicist to come up with practical applications for this phenomenon, but once the power is harnessed, it can be used very effectively in the production of special purpose motors and tools. Piezoelectric actuators are devices that produce a small displacement with a high force capability when voltage is applied.

There are many applications where a piezoelectric actuator may be used, such as ultra-precise positioning and in the generation and handling of high forces or pressures in static or in dynamic situations.

This may be old news to some of our readers and if it is, then you are probably in the market for one or more of these remarkable devices. If so, you've come to the right place, Piezoelectric Technology Co., Ltd.(www.piezo-tech.com) Since 2000, Piezo-tech has been designing, manufacturing and distributing ultrasonic motors, which make use of effective aspects of piezoelectricity. Based in South Korea, Piezo-tech was the first in the nation's history to master this amazing power.
