The Embassy of India in Seoul, in coordination with the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK), will hold a Forum on India- Korea Information Technology Partnership for Global Success on 14 March 2011 in the Seoul Millennium Hilton Hotel.

Bilateral relations between India and Korea have been growing rapidly and diversifying to new areas. Based on the solid foundation of goodwill between the two nations and guided by the mature political leadership of the two countries, the relations between the two vibrant members of G-20 have acquired a multi-dimensional profile in the last few years.

Of particular significance is the widening and deepening economic cooperation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2010. Bilateral trade witnessed a robust growth of about 45 percent last year reaching US$ 17 billion. Investments both ways have also shown positive growth impulses.

However, the economic engagement between these two trillion dollar leading economies of Asia and of the world is still lower than the potential. India-Korea economic partnership has the capacity to make a significant contribution to greater integration in Asia. Therefore, it is important to identify the synergies between the two economies and focus on these sectors to create a mutually beneficial business environment.

It is with these objectives the Embassy of India in Seoul, in coordination with the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ICCK), is organizing a Forum on India- Korea Information Technology Partnership for Global Success. India's spectacular success in the IT sector is now a well-known and well-established fact, and its global reach is evident from Indian IT industry's footprint in about 66 countries spread across different geographic regions.

IT Solutions are a perfect complement in particular to any advanced economy by providing value addition, leading to innovation, ensuring cost saving, strengthening competitiveness and offering an integrated business model. No wonder the largest number of about 160 Indian IT Delivery Centres are in North America followed by 156 in Europe. Korean industry, driven by cutting-edge technologies, can acquire significant competitive advantage through a business model integrated with Indian IT Solutions.

Jeeva K. Sagar, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission said at the Media briefing, "The IT Forum will provide an opportunity to Korean industries and businesses to interact with IT experts from India and abroad as to how Indian IT Solutions can offer an innovative business model in various sectors of the economy. It is going to be a win-win situation for both countries."

Chang Kook-hyun, Secretary General of ICCK said that the Forum will cement relations between the two countries. "There are so many sectors we can cooperate with India. We can introduce our advanced system on banking, e-government and smart grid to India while we collaborate with India on IT solutions."

The Key Note address will be delivered by Mr. Som Mittal, the President of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM). A global client of Indian IT companies that has achieved great business success will share his experiences. Indian IT companies based in Korea will also attend the Forum and be available to participants to help them further comprehend what the Indian IT brand can offer to globalize their operations in an increasingly competitive business environment.
