Seoul Motor Show 2011 is Revved Up

Seoul Motor Show 2011

On April 1st, when it is starting to look like spring, Seoul Motor Show 2011 kicked off at the Kintex convention center in Goyang.

Celebrating eight years of the event, around 500 of distinguished guests at home and abroad, including Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik, the Vice Minister of Knowledge Economy, Ahn Hyun-ho, Kim Moon-soo, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, Moon Jung-ho, the vice minister of Environment, Kim Hee-guk, the vice minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Choi Seong, the mayor of Goyang city, Yoon Yeo-chul, Chairman of Seoul Motor Show, Jean Marie Hurtiger, CEO of Renault Samsung Motors participated in the tape-cutting ceremony.

This biennial auto show showcases approximately 300 cars: 54 new cars, 23 concept cars and 32 green cars to the public. Auto parts companies from at home and abroad will also unveil their future-oriented cutting-edge products. "Under the theme of "Evolution, Green Revolution on Wheels", this year a total of 137 companies from eight countries are participating. We are expecting 10,000 foreign buyers, and trade consultation of about US$ 1.3 billion," Huh Wan, Director General of the Organizing Committee for the Seoul Motor Show explained in front of the distinguished guests.

Along with the「World Automobile CEO Forum」 on April 1, the Seoul Motor Show 2011 holds various events during the show such as 「Telematics International Seminar」, 「Collegian Self-made Car Contest」, 「Collegian Automobile Design Contest」, 「UCC Contest」 and 「'Best Car of the show' Awards by journalists」.

It seems like the Seoul Motor Show is on the right track for joining the ranks of other top motor shows as drawing over 61 thousand people on the first day. The Seoul Motor Show 2011 is going to exhibit passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, fuel cells, tires, bicycles, parts and supplies to April 11st for 11 days at Kintex.
