Over the past ten years or so, our country has emerged as an unrivaled IT powerhouse. The nation boasts competitive power exceeding twice the average among the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. To that extent, the IT industry has become a new driving force of our economy.
We hear people saying that Korea is the place to start an IT industry. That is because our country boasts the most appropriate conditions, including the world's most advanced technological expertise, the greatest IT receptiveness on the part of the people, and governmental backing. The Government will do its best to support the development of technologies, the cultivation of human resources in the IT sector, and preferred purchase of products of small and medium-sized IT businesses.
We will thereby strive to explore overseas markets and induce investments in Korea by international IT companies.
The expectations we pin on the launch of the Korea IT Times at this point in time is, indeed, significant. I hope that the IT Times will endeavor to introduce our IT industry and keep domestic subscribers well informed about trends in the world market. Your positive efforts will invigorate the IT industry.
Once again, I congratulate you on the launch of the paper and hope for your great success.
