The Korea National Park Service (KNPS) said it will implement a trail grade system so that every visitor including the aged and the disabled can use trails safely and conveniently. The trail grade system is to evaluate the degree of slope and the condition of a road and classify them by grade so that visitors can choose a proper trail for their physical conditions.

As almost all trails in national parks are located in mountainous area and there is no information on the conditions of trails, the aged and the disabled have been impossible to visit national parks. KNPS plans to implement the trail grade system from the beginning of August.

KNPS will also build specialized trails for the disabled. At the newly built trails such as Bukhansan dullegil and Taean haebyeongil, observatory, toilets and parking lots for the disabled are equipped. With regard to this, KNPS launched a TF team to establish policies for the weak and conducted a training for staff on barrier-free visiting environment.
