An Ontario man has Canada's first suspected case of E. coli linked to the outbreak in Europe. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care said Monday the man travelled to Germany this spring where he consumed local salad products.

Ontario's chief medical officer of health, Dr. Arlene King, says initial testing has confirmed the presence of toxin compatible with the current E. coli outbreak in Europe. But it will take a few more days for further lab tests to confirm the case. The ministry says the man has been released from hospital and is undergoing further evaluation. King adds the ministry is closely monitoring the situation in Europe, where 22 people have died and more than 2,300 been sickened.
