The Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes the effectuation today (June 10) of the Agreement of the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of Japan concerning the Books, signed by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries at the bilateral summit held on the sidelines of the APEC Summit on November 14, 2010, following the Japanese Cabinet's approval, which marks the completion of all the necessary procedures required by the country.
The Government of the Republic of Korea appreciates the effectuation of the agreement as the outcome of the Japanese government's faithful implementation of the follow-up measures to Prime Minister Kan's statement issued on August 10, 2010, and as a tangible demonstration of its willingness to build Korea-Japan relations in a future-oriented manner.
The Government of the Republic of Korea expects that working-level consultations between the two countries will move forward smoothly to realize an early transfer of the Joseon Dynasty Uigwe (a collection of royal protocols) and other archives, thereby contributing to further promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation as well as friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
