The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) of Korea and the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) of New Zealand met at MSI on May 31st for the 2nd Korea-New Zealand Joint Science & Technology Committee. The two sides agreed to conduct joint research based on reciprocal matching funds in the areas of BT (functional food), nanotechnology, and environmental technology, currently being implemented as Focal Point Projects (FPP). They also selected green growth, new pharmaceutical development, and polar research as new FPPs, agreeing to bilaterally support research and human exchange activities for the upcoming 3 years. Prior to the meeting, Minister Wayne Mapp visited Minister Ju-Ho Lee on April 26th to discuss measures to expand bilateral S&T cooperation, including polar research.
