In order to deliver the most rewarding and effective roaming experience to clients while increasing its network efficiency, Bell Mobility has again turned to Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) - a leading developer of SIM and Mobile Device Management (MDM) software for wireless service providers.
G&D has supplied its SmartRoamTM platform to Bell Mobility to work in concert with other network roaming elements for a centralized Outbound Roaming Solution (ORS). That is possible due to the G&D software which creates and optimizes Over-the-Air (OTA) updates based on SIM-card and client characteristics.
Wireless service providers deploy G&D's roaming solutions to improve their clients' experience, maximize airtime and optimize revenue retention by ensuring those roaming are continuously connected to preferred available mobile networks.
"Working with G&D allows us to easily manage our network requirements while providing clients with a straightforward and seamless wireless experience when roaming," said Bruce Rodin, Vice President of Wireless Technology at Bell Mobility. "With the addition of SmartRoam, we will continue to provide great service while ensuring our clients roam on preferred partner networks and minimize related charges."
By connecting clients to preferred roaming partner networks, SmartRoam helps wireless operators such as Bell Mobility reduce related expenses and ultimately drive down operating expenditures. G&D's patented technology enables OTA provisioning of roaming preferences and SIM ToolKit commands based on real-time events received from the network.
SmartRoam adheres to industry standards, is transparent to the client and does not cause disruptions to the visited network due to active roaming-steering methods. SmartRoam also offers wireless service providers an unsurpassed level of intelligence with the ability to route callers to a specific roaming partner based on device and usage patterns. Additionally, by actively managing roaming files and only updating relevant information for active roamers, SmartRoam uses less OTA capacity than other solutions on the market helping to minimize the load on international SS7 network elements.
"With a superior SIM-based roaming steering solution that's immune to anti-steering technologies, Bell Mobility has gained a low-cost and rapid means to enhance their already strong OTA platform," said Marianne Arosenius Group Senior Vice President, G&D's Server Software and Services Division. "Leveraging its previous investment in our OTA solution, Bell Mobility can reduce the number of network elements they need to install and maintain for reduced upfront and ongoing costs while allowing its customers to enjoy the highest level of service regardless of location."
