Minnesota, USA -July 15, 2011 - As it is easy to see, the battle is raging in the social networking world; everyone wants a piece of the ever-increasing sized 'pie'! Yet, at what point is the introduction of social networks too much There is speculation that Microsoft will introduce a social network, rumored to be called Tulalip, which would likely attempt to compete with Facebook and now Google+; even if it requires only a Facebook login, it is another company that wants to dip its feet into the social networking waters. Are the benefits outweighing the risks for these companies and others As far as the consumers, are they even interested anymore

Some people sighed with relief after they discovered that Google+ is in the works; undeniably Facebook upset enough of its users with its privacy changes that left its users vulnerable. However, Google also has a long record of privacy violations. If users change, will they only be exchanging services to deal with a bigger problem After all, Google has most of the data as it is the most used search engine; is social networking just another scheme to 'get to know' users even more Google says that it is 'secure', yet we heard it say this multiple times in the past.

It is hard to believe that people could continue to sign-up and use new social networking sites when the number keeps growing; It is unlikely that everyone will be intrigued enough to do so. Social networking is no longer a phenomenon, but the business world continues to treat it like so. Instead of tapping into another consumer need, companies are reaching out to provide a service that is readily available. Perhaps it's a business move that seems the least 'risky'; yet, it is easy to argue that they are putting efforts into places that are unnecessary, which will only lead to disappointment. 'How many users are willing to completely change services and how many times' is the question that companies should be asking themselves prior to creating a social network.

".. I already use Facebook too much. I should probably work away from social networking rather than anything else. I shouldn't keep taking the time to do this," remarked an anonymous user. It is an idea that could indicate a new trend; social networks may still be popping up everywhere, but the consumer market may slowly disappear. Even though social networking will not disappear entirely, how many users will be divided among the networks -plus networks to come Who is likely to 'switch'

The social networking storm is likely to continue; hopefully among the bunch, there is a company that will introduce something new and add that 'social' element that people love. Obviously, we are tired of seeing variations of the same concept. Once we, Korea IT Times, discover a new site that does not fit this concept, we will happily announce its arrival to you!
