Dell Computer / 64-bit Supporting PowerEdge Server Line

>> By Using the Intel Xeon Processor, Server Systems Support 32- and 64-bit computing

Dell Computer (www.decll co.kr) has launched a next-generation server line that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit computing. The newly introduced servers, the "PowerEdge 1850" and the "PowerEdge 2850" use the Intel process Xeon DP (code name: NOCONA) and the Intel chipset "E7520."

Dell Computer says both the PowerEdge 1850 and 2850 are two-way servers that provide building block solutions for highperformance computing, corporate applications and integrated management. "We have introduced products that embody the latest industry standards so that clients can easily build up their IT infra," said Kim Sung-ho, Marketing manager of Dell Computer. "With new the PowerEdge servers, companies will be able to easily manage their resources at lower cost."

The PowerEdge1850 and 2850 servers can use MS Windows server 2003 (32-bit), Enterprise, Linux 3 (32/64 bit). The two models are available from $2,522. Dell Computer plans to unveil new tower type model PowerEdge 1800 and 2800 shortly.

Cypress / High-Performance FLEx72

>> High-band width Dual Port RAM

Cypress Korea (country manager, Lee Sangyup, www.cypress.com) added 4Mbit (CYD04S72V) and 9Mbit (CYD09S72V) to its FLEx72 dual-port RAM line.

While completing its x72-bit-side multi-port memory product line including 18Mbit FLEx72 devices, Cypress is producing 4Mbit and 9Mbit test products.

The FLEx72 18 Mbit DP RAM is a synchronous, pipelined dual-port memory that provides twice the density of comparable devices in the market today. In addition, the FLEx72 DP RAM is the first dual-port memory to provide 72-bit wide ports enabling up to 19.2 Gbps of bandwidth.

With this unprecedented combination of performance and storage capability, Cypress's FLEx72 DP RAM is the optimal solution for the increasing line rates and processing speeds required by next-generation communication systems (wireless base stations, storage area network sub-systems) and video and image processing systems.

As a true dual-port memory, the FLEx72 DP RAM provides simultaneous access to any location in the memory - either port can write and read data into and out of any memory location at the same time. This feature, combined with the ability to run both ports in two independent clock domains, enables the buffering of large packets of data between two processing elements in a system.

HP Korea Notebook PC "7X940"
>> Notebooks for Small- and Mediumsized Businesses

HP Korea recently introduced a new notebook, the nx9040 that delivers reliable performance at affordable prices for smalland medium-sized business (SMB) customers. The HP Compaq nx9040 Business Notebook is designed for highly mobile professionals requiring wireless connectivity and long battery life for greater productivity, wherever their work takes them.

With up to three and one-half hours of battery life, the notebooks keep users connected and productive in and around the office, in airports and hotels, as well as at home. "HP delivers intelligently designed notebook PCs priced right for the budgets of mobile customers in smaller businesses to medium-sized businesses with field sales teams," said Kim Dae-hwan, personal system group manager of HP Korea.

Powered by proven Intel Centrino technology supporting Intel Pentium M processors 715 to 745(3) with speeds from 1.5 gigahertz to 1.8 gigahertz and integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 with up to 64 megabytes of shared system memory for graphics, the nx9040 supports up to 2 gigabytes of 266 megahertz DDR (double data rate) memory configurable for dual-channel operation to maximize system throughput for optimal performance, as well as IEEE 1394 and Svideo ports.

The nx9040 will have a 14.1- or 15-inch XGA display, and uses MS Windows operating systems, a full-sized keyboard, eight function keys and seven LEDs combine to rival the usability of a desktop PC while taking up a fraction of the space.

Analog Device / Triple Differential Line Driver

>> Single-chip Solution for PC Peripherals Eliminates multiple Differential Amplifiers

Analog Device Korea (www.analog.com) has unveiled its AD8133 Triple Differential Line Driver that has been fully integrated into a single, 4 mm x 4 mm package.

AD8133 is the industry's smallest triple differential line driver. With this new device, engineers needing to drive RGB (red-green-blue) signals over a twisted-pair cable can eliminate multiple-chip solutions, cutting costs by up to 50% and reducing board space by up to 75%. The AD8133 is a major advancement beyond using discrete op amps for driving differential RGB video signals over twisted-pair cable for computer peripheral, remote display, and KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) applications.

Most critical to these applications is minimizing radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI). The AD8133's unique internal common-mode feedback provides an output gain and phase balance of -60 dB at 50 MHz, suppressing EMI radiation and enabling the use of Category-5 unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable. Many applications benefit from the cost-savings of twisted-pair configurations over coaxial cable solutions. The AD8133 driver accepts singleended inputs and provides differential outputs; each amplifier has a fixed gain of 2 to compensate for the attenuation of line termination resistors.

The AD8133 is specifically designed for RGB signals, but can be used for any type of analog signals or high-speed data transmission. The device is capable of driving either Cat-5 UTP cable or differential printed circuit board transmission lines with minimal signal degradation. The AD8133 is priced at $2.59 per unit in 1,000-piece sets and is presently being mass-produced.

McAfee / ePO 3.5

>> Helps Customers Reduce the Risk of Rogue, Noncompliant Systems

McAfee Korea (www.mcafee.com/korea) recently announced the new release of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 3.5, a system security management solution that delivers a proactive, enterprise-wide defense against malicious threats and attacks. With McAfee ePO 3.5, administrators can proactively mitigate the risk of rogue, noncompliant systems, and enjoy unmatched, comprehensive management of system security through a solution that offers true enterprise scalability and integration at a significant reduction in cost of ownership.

McAfee ePO 3.5 takes a unique, infrastructure independent approach to mitigating the risk of rogue systems with the use of distributed sensors that passively monitor the network for any LAN-based connections. This helps to quickly establish whether systems are currently managed by McAfee ePO, providing a range of policy based responses to those that are not compliant. "Through the identification of unmanaged systems, administrators can significantly improve system security compliance and mitigate the significant losses that can result from noncompliant systems, said Kim Hyon-soo, Manager of McAfee Korea.

. "McAfee ePO acts as the central hub of McAfee system protection solutions, providing comprehensive management of system security at the lowest cost of ownership," Kim added. Administrators can proactively mitigate the risk of rogue, noncompliant systems, keep protection up-todate, configure and enforce protection policies, and monitor security status, 24/7, from one centralized and truly enterprisescalable console. In Korea McAfee ePO3.5 will be available from late September through McAfee Korea's business partners.
