StorageTek Korea (www.storagetek.co.kr), a provider of information lifecycle management (ILM), unveiled its StreamLine(TM) SL500 modular library system. With the new product, StorageTek Korea intends to solidify its presence in Korea's low-end market.
The SL500 leverages technology from the SL8500 to offer unmatched scalability, storage density and data center class reliability to the midmarket.
The SL500 starts at 30 LTO cartridge slots and scales to over 500 LTO cartridge slots storing over 100TB of uncompressed data and can support up to 18 tape drives providing throughput rates of over 2TB/hour.
The SL500 supports midrange tape drive formats including LTO Gen-2 and will support SDLT in future versions.
The StorageTek StreamLine SL500 modular library system provides the most scalable, rack mounted, tape automation solution in the market today.
The SL500 is designed to handle growing data protection needs by providing tremendous flexibility through unmatched configurability.
Building on the hallmark of the StreamLine family of products, the SL500 provides true mixed media support and interfaces to consolidate UNIX and Windows computing infrastructures.
"The SL500 modular library is the first tape automation product that brings Enterprise ILM performance, scalability, reliability, and manageability to the midmarket. It is poised to become a new standard for mid-range automation technology," said Martin Hall, president of StorageTek Korea.
