Minnesota, USA -September 14, 2011 - Facebook announced that in the next few days we should start seeing the 'subscribe' button pop up on our friends' pages, public figures' pages, and much more;  this button allows users to customize how much information they want to see from anyone whether they are 'friends' or 'not friends'. It even gives users the option to release their own information to the public as well, if they choose. Instead of having users 'opt out' like in the past, this button requires users to opt-in; Facebook is finally learning from its privacy mistakes from the past.

If you are sick of seeing game, horoscope, or other updates on your News Feed, this button will let you easily change what you see from specific friends; for example, maybe one of your friends updates too much with different apps, you can choose to only see the status updates or even just the crucial updates such as location change or job change. I know that it may go against the 'friend' connection, but the button can even stop all updates altogether; perhaps you want to see more updates from certain people and not the others -this will allow you to free up space on your News Feed so you do not need to 'scroll' as much as usual.

The 'Subscribe' button will appear to the left of the 'message' button on all of your friends' pages; Facebook announced that the button may even appear on public figures' webpages, so you could follow them directly even if they are not one of your Facebook friends. Instead of bookmarking your favorite webpages of people or companies, you could follow them all in one place -your Facebook News Feed. Luckily, Facebook is giving users all the control in this change -opt in if you want or do not if you don't.

If someone still has not added you as a 'friend', you can choose to broadcast your updates to him or her; you do not need to wait for anyone to see your updates because he or she could find you in his or her News Feed just like everyone else. Someone would never need to add you as a friend and still be able to see your updates if you choose. Perhaps you have a strange relationship with someone where you want them to know about you but he or she does not want you to know about him or her. Whatever the reason, this option is there.

In the next few days, you will begin to see several of your friends with 'subscribe' button appear, what you choose to do with this is your decision; it will be a great tool to filter all information to show what you really want to see rather than the loads of the 'unwanted'.
