Hantech manufactures facilities for major chemical companies at home and abroad. Park, Heung Ryul, the president of the company, said, "Safety comes before efficiency when it comes to a chemical factory." A chemical reactor is a key facility in a chemical factory. It is a vessel which produces a chemical reaction, so it is an essential device for chemical factories. Hantech manufactures chemical reactors as well as heat exchangers, gas emission towers and gas tanks. Park explained that  Hantech produces enormous pots to mix various chemicals or outlets for gas, but he also emphasized that even a tiny crack on these products could cause a massive explosion that will blow up not only the factory but also the whole village in that area.

A small but strong company with source technology

Japanese chemical reactors and heat exchangers are most commonly used in Korean chemical factories. Only few small and medium-sized companies like Hantech produce those kinds of facilities. Despite this difficult condition, Hantech has been ranked as number one in this industry because its original technologies are good enough to even get a patent with a welding technology. Hantech could build its current strong industrial structure because it went through a few crises. Korea Fertilizer, which caused a stir in society with a saccharine smuggling scandal in the 1960s, was the start of Hantech. In 1973, it started out as the equipment division at Korea Fertilizer and became a division at Samsung Fine Chemicals in 1994. However, its glorious days ended in 1997 because Samsung Fine Chemicals decided to outsource the facilities and closed the division during Asian financial crisis.

In the following year, the leader of the division, Park, quit the company with twenty-five employees and together they started their own business. They funded one billion KWN from their severance to open Hantech. The employees were dedicated to reviving the technology they accumulated for the last twenty years even though they were paid only half salary. Their first priority was to develop better reactor than Japan. Park emphasized " We focused on how to make a reactor that never explodes and how to make a perfectly welded heat exchanger rather than how to increase the profit through selling our products to more companies. " Starting with twenty five people, now the company has one hundred and thirty six employees and thirty five of them are working in R&D. Park said Hantech obtained more than ten patents in producing chemical reactors and heat exchangers after separated from Samsung. Another reason to call Hantech the small but strong champion is that the company exports their products to Japan and other advanced countries. Last year, their turnover was 143.8 billion KRW (US$125 million) and 100 billion KRW (US$87 million), which takes up 70% of the turnover, was created by selling to foreign countries such as Japan, China, the US and Italy.

Hantech Ltd. has been awarded the KOTRA Seal of Excellence since 2010.
