Minnesota, USA -September 29, 2011 - Excitement is in our mists as news flies around that Amazon is ready to release its new family of Kindles -there are three e-readers and one tablet; surprisingly, the base model of the e-reader can be bought for a mere $79 -the Special Offers version and only $30 more if you want the regular version. Amazon made an unexpected move by completely getting rid of the keyboards on all models; the benefit of this is that the screen is much larger than its predecessors'. However, some users do not like touch screen due to the marks and possible wearing down of the screen, but perhaps this change could also grow on the Amazon Kindle fans.
Base Model
As stated before, the keyboard from Kindle is completely removed now; it was replaced by 4 buttons and a small directional pad. It weighs less than 6 ounces, which means it is far less than the previous version. There was not any change in battery life, however; it will still remain at the 1-month battery life when the Wi-Fi is off. It features 2 GB of storage -giving it a lot of space for e-books.
Kindle Touch
As predicted, Amazon jumped on board the 'touch screen' fan wagon; there is multi-touch on a 6-inch E-ink display. It mimics other touch e-readers by allowing its users to tap on opposite sides of the screen in order to either go forward a page or back a page. Just like the base model, it weighs even less than the previous versions. Its storage is a whopping 4GB -of which only 3GB can be used. Yet, Amazon gives free access to the cloud so you do not need to worry about not having enough space for books. Do not get too excited though because it will not be released until November 21; it could make the perfect present for a loved one -or yourself.
Kindle Touch 3G
Just like the other versions, Amazon is offering its users free access to the 3G network -AT&T is the provider, for any of those who care to know. It gives you all the benefits of the new Kindle Touch but adds on the convenience of 3G.
Kindle Fire: the New Tablet
If you are like us, you have been sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to hear about the tablet that will come out soon - November 15. Sadly, this is only the case for the U.S. -sorry to those who are residing in other countries.
The tablet weighs less than a pound and less than ½ inch thick. It contains a dual-processor and boasts 8 GB of storage. However, it does not feature anything such as GPS, cameras, or even a microphone -that the iPad contains. Yet, the price is super low -$199. With less features, it extends its battery life to be 8 hours -without Wi-Fi.
If you want to enjoy video, apps, music, and more, the Kindle Fire is the best pick for you!
