With the spread of computers and the Internet, people spend more time in front of computers at home and during their free time. Consequently, illnesses or muscle aches resulting from sitting in front of computers is increasing. Computer-related illnesses, or VDT syndrome, is a word to describe any kind of health problem caused by using a computer for too long. The symptoms of VDT syndrome include stiff neck, nervous shoulder, tired eyes, irritated skin, and psychological problems. VDT stands for Visual Display Terminals and its most commonly used device is a computer. Also, VDT work includes all kinds of work that is conducted using a keyboard, a mouse, and a printer while sitting in front of a monitor.

Firstly, symptoms of VDT syndrome include musculoskeletal system disorder, myofascial pain syndrome (muscle pain) and carpal tunnel syndrome (wrist pain).

These muscle and nerve system disorders cause pain in the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers. Secondly, VDT syndrome also shows eye problems such as irritation, pink eye, dryness or worsening vision. Third, it can also cause psychological disorders such as Internet addiction, game addiction, sleep disorders, depression, and headaches. Fourth, it can also cause migraines or stomach disorders from bad eating habits. Lastly, as it is still controversial, there is a possibility that being exposed to electromagnetic waves for a long period of time could cause skin irritation or fetus malformation. The causes of VDT syndrome are various, including the design of office space, dry ventilation, low-quality monitors, bad posture, repetitive typing, staying in one position for too long, lack of break time, and work-space design.

Especially , according to a recent campaign of the Federation of Korean Information Industries, Computer VDT Syndrome and its Prevention, the reason why VDT syndrome patients are increasing recently is that companies provide each employee with one computer, increased duration of using a computer, laptop usage increased, bigger screens, and the fact that people in their 40s and 50s use computers more.

As a computer screen becomes bigger, it is easier to see letters or pictures. However, eyes get drier and easily tired. Especially looking up at a large screen on a desk exposes eyeballs to air and causes dryness. Color screens are also an element to exhaust eyes as the different color waves put more workload on eye muscles in order to focus. Using small laptops can cause neck or shoulder pain, also their smaller keyboard can be a burden to fingers and the wrist. Another reason for VDT syndrome increase is that older people who are in their 40s or 50s are using computers for work more often now. Their eye control ability is less flexible than when young, so it makes it easy to be tired. Those who with reading glasses get to bend their neck backwards to see the screen through the lower part of the glasses, and this posture can cause neck and shoulder pain.

JnP's confi mouse helps prevent carpal tunnel syndrome which is caused by excessive use of a mouse. First of all, it is ergonomically comfortable. You can grab the mouse as you grab a pencil, this natural posture doesn't put any pressure on a hand or a wrist, and its ergonomic design provides you with excellent feel and comfort. Also, comfi mouse adopted a super-precise photo censor, so you can move and control a cursor easily on almost any surfaces. It supports Plug&Play and USB.
