The G-STAR 2011 Global Game Exhibition will begin at Busan's BEXCO on November 10. The event will be hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) and the Busan Metropolitan Government, and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and IT Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA).

Tens of thousands of gamers visit the G-star every year to experience new games

About 280 companies from 28 countries around the world will take part in the game industry show, expanding the size of the show by more than 20% from the year before. Therefore, the G-STAR 2011 Global Game Exhibition will go down in history as the biggest one ever. The organizing committee will focus not only on quantitative growth but also contents which everyone can enjoy.

Game companies are planning to exhibit many new games that are going to be released in the second half of this year. The game festival and trade show will be more global with exhibitions from well known game companies from around the world, such as the U.S., the U.K., China and Japan. The G-STAR 2011 Global Game Exhibition will be held under the theme of "Connect with Games" to break away from being called, "an online game-oriented game exhibition" by attracting a wide array of games such as arcade games, mobile games, and console games.

It will feature an Online Game Zone, an Arcade game Zone, a Board game Zone, a  Console Game Zone, a Small and Medium Sized Company Pavilion, the Content Industry PR Center, a Special Events Stage, and even a Baby and Child Care center. The organizing committee will introduce a ticket reservation system so that visitors will be able to enter the exhibition center faster than if they bought tickets on the spot.

Therefore it will be nearly impossible to see a long queue in front of a ticket box office. Ticket sales will be simultaneously conducted on two internet sites, the home page of the G-Star show (www.gstar.or.kr), or Interpark, an internet shopping mall (www.interpark.co.kr) beginning on October 19. The organizers will give prizes to some of those who purchased tickets online, through a lottery system.

In addition, the opening ceremony will be held two hours earlier than in the previous year with the aim of minimizing the inconvenience to visitors due to the opening ceremony. G-Star 2011 will prepare a variety of business events in order to maximize its positive impact on exhibitors. In particular, exhibitors can use conference rooms at the BEXCO free of charge during the exhibition period.

Accordingly, exhibitors can hold contract signing ceremonies and media days for releases of their games at the exhibition center. At the same time, small and medium sized game publishers will enjoy using the conferences to publicize reporters about their products and services. Furthermore, the organizing committee will hold a Business Network Party at Busan Novotel Hotel beginning 6:00 pm on November 11.

The party is expected to serve as a chance for Korean and foreign game publishers to make business contacts and hold business meetings. G-Star 2011 will offer everyone who visits many opportunities to have fun. This year's G-Star will include the Game Industry Job Fair with the participation of 20 excellent Korean and foreign game companies. The job fair will be a good chance for those who want to work for game companies and game companies that want to hire talented people.

The organizing committee will hold G-Star 2011 special seminars this year, continuing from similar seminars in the previous year. This seminar will consist of two parts. In the first part, people from famous foreign social network game companies (SNG), such as KABAM and 6Waves will participate as lecturers on the SNG market including trends in the market. In the second part, employees of Korean SNG companies will deliver lectures on the present and future of the Korean SNG market.

The “Sound Game Culture Festival for Families” will be held for families and teenagers as part of the exhibition to encourage sound and healthy gaming practices. Therefore, the organizing committee will hold the G-Star Family Camp at the Hamjigol Youth Training Center in Busan on November 12, the third day of G-Star 2011. Children or teenagers and their families will be able to experience desirable game cultures and look around exhibition. Those who want to take part in the camp can make a reservation through the home page of the show on a first come, first serve basis. The first 20 families will be offered board and lodging and a pleasant recreation time. This camp program will be managed by the Busan Information Culture Center.
