Samsung Electronics has developed UWB (Ultra Wide-Band) technology that would allow mobile phones to transmit large capacity files of information such as pictures and moving images at ultra-high speed.
The transmission speed reaches up to 110 Mbps, which is 10 times faster than Bluetooths presently on the market.
During the 3GSM World Congress held in Cannes, France on Feb. 14-17, Samsung Electronics has demonstrated UWB technology, which was first developed by Motorola earlier this year.
The technology will likely be applied to a wide range of digital devices such as camcorders and televisions as well as mobile phones.
It is forecast that during next year, in particular, a technology will be developed to facilitate the transmission at the speed of up to 600 Mbps and replace Bluetooth technologies.
Samsung Electronics plans to put mobile phones with UBW chips on the market during the first quarter of next year.
