SEOUL, KOREA --- LG Electronics’ 3D Smart TV won the Minister of Knowledge Economy Award at the 2011 Korean Technology Awards, which was held on the 8th at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel SamsungDong Seoul.The Korean Technology Awards, which is celebrating its 13th anniversary, is supervised by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, selects and rewards the representative technology that was developed in Korea every year.
The award winning LG Electronics’ cinema 3D smart TV incorporates FPR (Flim-type Patterned Retarder) technology, and represents new era 3D TVs that relaxes your eyes and have light glasses.
The Magic Motion remote, which was made exclusively for the cinema 3D smart TV, also received good reception. The original smart TV remotes required the user to click at least 10 times, whereas the magic motion remote requires only one click to execute various contents and applications.‘The Smartphone based Stereoscopic image Automatic conversion technology” which automatically transfers 2D contents such as smartphone games into 3D, won the runner-up prize. This technology was applied for the first time in the world into LG Optimus 3D.
On the other hand, the Cinema 3D Smart TV was chosen for the KIAT’s list of top ten new technologies. KIAT has been choosing and announcing every year 10 outstanding new technologies and products that had a major effect in the Korean market.Kwon Il Geun, Director of Research of LG Electronics, said, “We thank the appraisal for LG Cinema 3D giving a positive effect on the global 3D TV market”, he added that “We will continue to improve our cinema 3D technology, which emphasizes on consumer convenience, and prevail again next year in the global 3D TV market”
