From June 1 through June 30, KADO (Korea Agency For Digital Opportunity & Promotion) will launch a number of events to promote "Digital Opportunity Month." With the theme, 'u-Korea: Friendly Digital World', the Agency aims to promote a friendly digital society in which all nations and peoples can find the solution to disparity in the availability of information. Since June every year has been designated as the Digital Opportunity Month for the sake of broadening awareness of the use of information, the Agency has been hosting various events focusing of what might be called the culture of information. KADO president and CEO Son Yeon-gi, Ph.D, , says the Agency will host a whole raft of events to boost national awareness about the deepening information disparity in the wake of the advancement of informatization. In particular, large-scale events according to different themes will be held every week on such topics as the "Sound use of information week" and "Information disparity solution week". CEO Son underscores that the Agency will make the most of the Month of Digital Opportunity to publicize the vision of u-Korea and to enhance national awareness of the impact of informatization. A ceremony to commemorate the 18th Information & Culture Month will be held at 10 a.m. on June 14 at the COEX, Seoul and will include events such as e-Clean Korea campaign, information protection week proclamation ceremony, information protection Olympiad, and so on, to be held throughout the month of June. Monthly Webzine for Digital Opportunity No public relations campaign has yet been mounted to inform the public of the importance of bridging the digital divide. Since its first issue, the monthly magazine, 'Beautiful e-World' has informed the public of domestic and overseas examples where the digital divide has been bridged and adverse effects of informatization have been ameliorated. KADO's Promotional Activity KADO is promoting/supporting activities designed to improve the public benefits of IT with private organizations, and implementing joint cooperative initiatives to share information targeted at private organizations within each sector of society.
