The company specializes in developing and producing annealed copper standard wires for electrical purposes, power transmission wires, insulating wires, power cables, control cables, telecommunication cables, anti-fire cables and more. Thanks to sturdy and steady production, Koryo Electic Wire has contributed to Korean national and regional industry development.
In particular, Koryo Wire succeeded in insulating a high voltage wire through wire coating technology. “It is difficult to insulate a high voltage wire, the coated area is melt or cut when high voltage electricity runs through copper and aluminum,” says an employee of Koryo Wire. “Thanks to our continuous research and development, we are now able to produce fine products.”
In 1985, Koryo Electric Wire made a big investment in wires for utility poles. In particular, it completed the development of a new high voltage wire production technology by investing about three billion won. The investment paid off, fueling the company's growth.
Koryo Wire even turned a crisis into opportunity. To overcome an economic downturn and outcompete its rivals, the company invested 10 billion won in 2005 to expand its facilities. The company obtained quality certificates and laid the foundation for its exports, including a PSE certificate required for exporting products to Japan. It has also obtained an ISO certifications, a KS certificate, and other important quality certifications.
In addition, Koryo Electric Wire's continuous research and investment in human resources has enabled the company to enjoy an increase in sales. Its continuous investment in the high-tech facilities significantly enhanced its productivity. Moreover the company enacted a system in order to mass produce its best products through cost reduction. Koryo Electric Wire connected its branches though a network to deal promptly with increasing demand and enjoyed high export growth year by year.
In 2012, Koryo is planning to expand marketing and develop more overseas business. The company is planning to make a foray into the Southeast Asian market with its leading products at reasonable prices. Koryo is expected to run as a front runner in the global era while harnessing strong support from customers, cutting-edge technologies, and continuous investment in technological development.
Koryo Electric Wire has been awarded the KOTRA Seal of Excellence since 2010.
