Congratulatory remarks by
H.E Othman Jerandi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia
First of all I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to The Korea IT Times on the occasion of the celebration of its first anniversary and to wish continued success to its endeavors, as a leading English language magazine specialized in ICT.
It is with great pleasure that I would like also to congratulate The Korea IT Times editor and all its staff for the quality of the information it is providing to its readers, in a very attractive and objective way, on the revolution in knowledge and information that is upon us. ICT in the 21st century have become indeed a driving force of human development and in this way, they can no longer be considered optional.
The value of knowledge has been maximized to the extent that the gap between the developed and developing countries is measured today through the knowledge gap itself. Several countries are actively nurturing IT industries as the engine of their national growth and development, as Korea is. However, there is a growing concern that many developing countries are being left behind in the ICT revolution, and as such are unable to participate in shaping these technologies and are deprived of the benefits of ICTs. This difference in the accessibility of information between nations is what has been termed the "digital divide".
Your magazine is playing an important role in popularizing knowledge of ICTs not only among experts and specialists but also among ordinary readers.
Wishing all the best to IT Times, which is starting its second year, I hope that in the coming years you will have more cause for pride in your undertaking. In this endeavor, I assure you, you will have our constant support in your noble mission.
