Information and Communication Minister Chin Dae-je will visit Beijing July 12-15 along with his deputies and attaches in overseas missions of the nation, to check the level of the emerging China's information and technology industry, while discussing global strategy of Korea's IT industry. On hand will be the ministry's key directors general and some 20 information and communication attaches serving at the nation's overseas missions in the United States, Japan, Russia, China and other IT powers.
The gathering in Beijing has come from the belief that it's necessary to provide an opportunity to see China's rapid development in the IT industry to the key government officials in setting up long-term strategy of the nation's IT industry.
China is believed to be one of Korea's major competitors and partners in the international IT markets.
Minister Chin also plans to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart and policy-makers to talk about ways for mutual cooperation in standardization and information technologies including third generation (3G) and digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB).
