KDC Corp., a leading network industry (NI) specialist and Masterimage, the Next paradigm of display, returned to Korea after wrapping up their demonstration tour of China to introduce Korea's threedimensional (3-D) image technology.
The leading NI specialist group is responsible for manufacturing the Masterimage product, along with the group's mutual investment in late June, this year.
Three-dimensional image technology which is being assessed as the nextgeneration display technology after the launch of HD broadcasting enables viewers to see and hear HD-notch 3-D images of high definition without putting on special glasses, unlike in the past. A spokesperson for KDC said that brisk technology development in this field has been under way worldwide and Korea also is nurturing the development and production of this 3-D image technology as the next-generation core technology through the Ministry of Information & Communication (MIC).
The two companies held a total of four demonstrations over five days, starting on August 1. High-ranking officials and researchers ,who were in attendance in large numbers . including representatives of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) of the People's Republic of China, as well as CCTV, were said to have expressed great astonishment at the highly-sophisticated technology..
The majority of participants showed great interest in transmitting 3-D image content to China's DMB which has proclaimed its commercialization ahead of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and also displayed much interest in the establishment of a 3-D image special broadcasting channel and the development of non glass modes for exclusive use of television as well.
CEO of Masterimage, Young-hoon Lee, said, "Masterimage is going to compose a TFT team in which KDC Corp., which is. already participating in DMB business in China, together with a local joint partner corporation and associated sectors as well as companies in China take part in large numbers. Also preparations regarding the signing of an MOU are under way." Providing a speedy decision is forthcoming from SARFT, the launching of 3-D image phones, as well as commercial service could be possible . first in China. then Korea or Japan, the CEO added.
