MILAN, ITALY — LG Electronics (LG) is participating in Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2012 in Milan to showcase the Hydro Kit, a total HVAC solution to meet increasingly demanding air conditioning, floor heating, radiator and sanitary hot water supply needs.
Honored as a Percorso Efficienza & Innovazione (Efficiency and Innovation Path) product for MCE 2012, LG’s new Hydro Kit manages sanitary hot water supply and floor heating more efficiently than a conventional boiler despite using less energy. The system also does its part to protect the environment by significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
Thanks to advanced heat pump technology and an innovative compressor, the Hydro Kit can achieve energy savings of up to 77 percent over a boiler, which translates to approximately 3.6 times greater energy efficiency. In addition, the Hydro Kit’s heat pump works much more efficiently and conserves more energy than a traditional heating system based on fossil fuels or electricity, enabling customers to reduce running costs as well as carbon emissions. Along with these benefits, LG’s system attains a significantly higher coefficient of performance (COP) -- up to 4.2 -- than a regular boiler.
The Hydro Kit is unrivaled as an eco-friendly HVAC solution. This is due in large part to its energy gaining space heating and domestic hot water operations, made possible by using ambient air as a renewable energy source. As a result, the Hydro Kit has achieved a considerable reduction of CO2 emissions, up to 51 percent fewer emissions than a conventional boiler. Moreover, the Hydro Kit can be connected to multiple heat pumps that utilize air, water and ground sources to create a green, eco-friendly system.
The Hydro Kit excels as an eco-friendly heating and water supply system without sacrificing performance. Equipped with LG’s inverter and two-stage compressor technology, the system maintains 100 percent of its heating capabilities and an 80˚C hot water supply even when the outside temperature reaches -15˚C. Furthermore, by extracting heat from ambient air and utilizing that resource to help heat a building or provide domestic hot water, the Hydro Kit enables further energy savings of up to 15 percent.
“LG is excited to be bringing the Hydro Kit to this year’s MCE, as it aptly showcases our commitment to achieving greater energy efficiency and defining new standards for eco-friendly technology,” said Kam-gyu Lee, Senior Vice President of the System Air Conditioning Business Unit of LG’s Air Conditioning and Energy Solution Company. “Thanks to breakthrough technologies such as the heat recovery system, the Hydro Kit is a prime example that we can elevate our quality of life while at the same time reduce energy use and protect the environment.”
