‘Ondol’ in Korean traditional architecture is a floor heating system which uses direct heat transfer from wood smoke to the underside of a thick masonry floor. Nowadays, the term refers to any type of floor heating in the Korean style.
‘Ondol’ is said to have a better heating effect than ordinary Western heating system that only warms the air of a room. Oriental Dream has exported its system to many colder regions including China, Russia and Mongol. Recently, as more Westerners began to prefer heated floors instead of standard floors that provide no heat, inquiries of ‘Ondol’ from many northern states in the U.S. are also on the rise.
Cotton Mesh Heating Materials
Oriental Dream’s film heaters, also known as cotton mesh heating materials, are a unique system that radiates heat by converting electric energy into solar energy instead of thermal energy. It is the world’s first patent product which radiates mass far infrared rays by implementing carbon into cottonseeds. Far infrared rays shake cells in the body at around 2,000 times per minute to create heat energy, and they activate cell structures to facilitate metabolism stimulation, anti-aging and blood circulation. “All of our products are environmentally-friendly since we use electrical energy that does not cause pollution. It is also economical for many companies as they do not need to purchase carbon credits,” said the CEO. When it comes to technology, “we have only focused on improving the quality of products rather than marketing and sales since the company started. We obtained a number of international certificates including CE-Europe electrical safety certification, ISO 9001 quality business management system, and had over 10 patents.” With only technical expertise, its annual sales surpassed 2 billion won ($1.7 million) last year while exports accounted for 25 percent. However, she doesn’t seem satisfied. “We will continue to research and create until we make our own heating elements no one can replicate.”
