World’s No.1 LFD Company Samsung enters Southeast Asian Market

SEOUL, KOREA – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s Large Format Display (LFD) has held its first place position for three consecutive years in the world. LFD is a super large display installed at airports, shopping centers, central control division for either commercial, or traffic information and news distributions.

A market survey agency, Display Search, announced that Samsung kept its leading position in the LFD market and dominated the market share with a 15.3% in 2011. The figure is an increase of 42% over a year ago and twice as high as 24% of the LFD market’s entire growth rate.

In addition, Samsung has achieved the first place of LFD manufacturing company in both developed countries and rising nations. The sales figures provide strong competitive advantages to Samsung for keeping its position in the future.

Meanwhile, the company is now entering the Southeast Asian market with the SUR40, a multi-touch table display that was jointly developed by Samsung and Microsoft, launching in Singapore. The SUR40 is the next generation of display like computer. It features a 1080p 40-inch LCD display, and an AMD Athlon II X2 dual-core processor paired with AMD Radeon HD 6700M graphics. The SUR40 is powered with Microsoft Surface and has a feature called PixelSense, which allows it to recognize up to 50 simultaneous touch points.

Samsung’s SUR40 is expected to be used by famous global brands and technology giants, such as Fujifilm, Industrial Color, and Le Métier de Beauté, for a variety of marketing activities.

A Samsung official said “We will lead the industrial display market with continuous launching of advanced technologies and good quality products.

There is no doubt that Samsung will keep its dominant power in the display market because they are always developing new technology. Plus, they are the largest display manufacturing company in the world and people love its products. If this continues, it will be difficult for competitors to take first place from Samsung.
