Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA)
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA, hereafter) and Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA, hereafter) recognize that mutual understanding and cooperation between the two Standard Development Organizations (SDOs) are necessary to promote sound growth and development of information and communications standards for applications in the global information and communications industries of the United States of America and Korea. In order to promote the mutual understanding and cooperation in the common interests and agreed fields, the two SDOs agree on the following terms:
1. To mutually exchange views, publications, newsletters, and other information, on the status of the information and communications industries in the two countries.
2. To encourage mutual support and assistance between the two SDOs in order to ensure balanced and mutually beneficial development of standardization between the two countries and attend to market demands in effective and concerted ways.
3. To provide participation as an observer without voting rights for the principals (TIA and TTA or their representatives) in each SDO on the basis of reciprocity. Either SDO may participate with voting rights in accordance with the normal procedures of the other organization.
4. To sustain commitment and contribution to the regional and global standards bodies, while making efforts to address the needs of the markets and industries of the two countries.
5. To encourage members of each organization to exhibit or participate in the information and communications technology-related events hosted or sponsored by the other association which are mutually complementary and on a case-by-case basis.
