SEOUL, KOREA – Hyundai Motor Company released the newest version of the Santa Fe on April 19. The new vehicle is the 3rd generation of the Santa Fe, which is the most representative of Korean SUVs and haven't manufactured a new version since 2005. The Santa Fe has sold 2,500,000 worldwide and earned an excellent reputation. The new Santa Fe is a new concept of mid-size SUVs based on sophisticated design, best features in its class, and a luxurious interior. It also offers increased fuel-efficiency and advanced telematics service ‘Blue Link.’ Hyundai spent nearly 52 months and invested 430 billion KRW in order to develop the “future” SUV.
– Sophisticated design by Fluidic Sculpture and Storm Edge
The new Santa Fe is designed around Hyundai’s design language, Fluidic Sculpture, and ushers in the company’s latest ‘Storm Edge’ design theme. Hyundai has strived to realize future-oriented style as they completely changed the exterior and interior.
– Wide range of choices
Hyundai offers two types of the Santa Fe, a five-passenger model (Santa Fe Sport) and a seven-seat model (Santa Fe). The new Santa Fe has two different engines of 2.0 and 2.2 diesel engines, respectively.
– Increased fuel-efficiency and an eco-friendly car
Fuel economy was a major focus with the new Santa Fe. Although larger than before, the increased use of lightweight high tensile steel reduces curb weight. In addition, a variety of advanced technologies for high fuel-efficiency were applied to the new Santa Fe. Lighter body and new technologies increase fuel-efficiency by 13% compared with the former type (2.0-liter model: 17.0km/ℓ, 2.2-liter model: 16.1km/ℓ). With oil prices rising, the new Santa Fe is a more cost-efficient vehicle to customers. The new Santa Fe also proved its environmental-friendliness as it passed the Euro-5 which is the European automobile emission standard.
–Safe and comfortable to ride
The new Santa Fe is the first SUV that is equipped with a seven-airbag system. It is also equipped with EFD (Emergency Fastening Device), which automatically fastens seat belt for drivers’ safety. In addition, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) were applied to the new Santa Fe in order to control stability in emergency situations. A new manufacturing method called hot stamping and high tensile steel increase driver’s safety during an accident. The Cornering Lamp, which immediately turns on whenever you switch on the turn signal, secures the clear front-side view at night.
– Advanced telematics service ‘Blue Link’
Hyundai applied a new telematics service to the Santa Fe, called Blue Link, which links navigation and IT systems. Drivers can start an engine and open/close doors at any time, and anywhere.
– Smart navigation, high quality audio system.
The new Santa Fe is equipped with an 8-inch large LCD display and a new 4.3-inch touch screen audio system.
– Is parking the easiest driving skill
Smart Parking Assist System (SPAS) detects parking spaces and helps drivers park easier with automatic control of the steering wheel.
Hyundai set a goal to sell 152,000 of the new Santa Fe’s worldwide this year and 385,000 of the vehicles for next year. The new Santa Fe will be released North America later this year.
